Today I was humbled as I witnessed a small miracle. 6 years ago when I arrived in Iowa City I was called as a WEBELOS den leader. The boys I got to serve were rambunctious and wonderful, and I love them. I thought even then about how they would grow up and become bearers of the Aaronic Priesthood and have opportunities to serve. I was a little sad then because I knew that I would graduate the year they were turning 15, and thus would never see them serve as priests in our congregation. Fast forward to today, though.
These same young men, each turning 16 sometime this year, is now old enough to be called to serve as a priest in the Aaronic Priesthood. And contrary to my earlier expectation, I am still in Iowa City. So today as part of our worship service, I had the joy of hearing each of their names read over the pulpit, to call for a sustaining vote on their ordination. That was a choice blessing.
